“Everything inspires me: my travels, the girls in the street, the big houses and vintage of course!”

Can you introduce Petite Mendigote to us in your own words?

Sybille : It's an ultra-feminine brand designed to accompany us in our busy, free lives. Petite Mendigote is a complete wardrobe that plays on prints, refined details, and delicate lace for a silhouette that is both effortless and assertive.

What is your background, what led you to launch this project?

Sybille : I studied law and then Sciences Po. At the end of my studies, I had the idea of creating a brand of accessories at affordable prices because I found there was nothing between Prada and Zara. I took the plunge! I was reckless! Little by little, I developed a range of shoes and then ready-to-wear.

What words best define you?

Sybille : Energy, optimism, kindness, humor.

What is your favorite piece, Petit Mendigote?

Sybille : It's hard to choose just one! I'd say the Come loafers, the mini-steve bag, and my Perrine jeans!

What is the creative process at Petite Mendigote? What inspires you?

Sybille : I work with the studio and it's a real ping pong. Everything inspires me: my travels, the girls in the street, the big houses and vintage of course! I listen
my instinct a lot.

How do you draw inspiration from vintage to create the Petite Mendigote collections?

Sybille : In several ways; twice a year, my stylists and I go to London to do all the vintage. It's a dream! We find prints, shapes, and lovely...
English lace and embroidery. There are always gems. And if not, we buy vintage in France. Especially on Imparfaite!

What are your earliest memories of clothing?

Sybille : I remember my mother playing with dolls with me. One of my earliest memories is a lovely little pink sweater with bows from Bonpoint. I remember throwing a tantrum to get the matching pink handbag!

What do you think about the carbon impact of fashion today?

Sybille : It is of course terrible, but I think it is wonderful that awareness of this impact pushes us all to improve and find new, less polluting production techniques.

How and where do you produce today?

Sybille : We also produce in Europe in India, whose expertise is unrivaled for embroidery, cotton voiles, and prints. All our workshops are certified and we
we go very often.

How does Petite Mendigote reduce its carbon footprint? What are the key measures?

Sybille : Concretely, we have relocated a lot of our production to Europe and we also choose eco-responsible materials as much as possible. We have set up a collaboration with the second-hand platform Paradigme to give a second life to our collections. Our packaging is also made from recycled paper. We would also like to develop pre-orders to limit our production as much as possible.
