  • Our cotton napkin is designed in Paris and then hand-printed in India by expert artisans with the utmost respect for Indian craftsmanship. Woodblock printing is an ancient skill from Rajasthan in western India. It involves manually printing the fabric using hand-carved wooden stamps. This piece also uses the Bagru technique, which involves printing designs using natural dyes on a beige background. Before dyeing, the fabric is soaked in a natural mordant made from the myrobalan fruit, which binds the color to the fabric and gives it a distinct yellowish hue. The natural shades of red are created by mixing varying proportions of alum, madder, and acacia arabica. Alum is used for the grays and fermented iron waste, jaggery and water for the blacks. Our napkins are handmade by artisans; the small imperfections that may appear on our printed fabrics attest to the fruit of careful manual craftsmanship. Each geometric napkin is unique in its feel and irregularities. This environmentally friendly printed napkin will seduce you with its brick red and charcoal black geometric pattern, which will add a chic and elegant touch to your meals. It will be the ideal accessory for a bohemian table decoration. The color of the pieces made from natural dyes fades and changes over time. Be sure to protect this fabric from prolonged exposure to sunlight. The fabric also has a tendency to bleed—this is a natural characteristic of this environmentally friendly technique. Please take the necessary precautions when washing.
